I have had the honor to preside over an extraordinary mediation and security council meeting of ECOWAS at the level of Ministers on the election of member states to the AU Peace and Security Council – the continent’s premier peace and security council.
As a consequence, Sierra Leone has been unanimously endorsed by ECOWAS for a second mandate (2026-2027) in the AUPSC. This is testament to Sierra Leone’s outstanding leadership in the UNSC (2024-25) and the AUPSC (2024-25).
I wish to thank my colleagues and the entire Community members for this abiding trust in our country’s leadership.
I express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone and Chairman of ECOWAS’ Authority fof Heads of State and Government, for providing the guidance and leadership that continue to shape Sierra Leone’s impactful foreign policy. I am also grateful to my Ministry’s tireless support work, and the leadership of our Cherished Ambassadors and their teams in Abuja and Addis Ababa – who continue to drive the diplomatic aspirations of President Bio through quality representation in Multilateral Institutions.
